I wanted to create a significant and alluring artwork to challenge my artistic abilities. The contrast between the vibrant sky and the circus tent, as well as the historical and modern elements, fascinated me and drew me in. I also sought the technical challenge presented by the various components of the image.
The artwork itself is an A0 acrylic landscape painting on stretched canvas, elegantly framed in black. It is divided into three distinct horizontal sections, each presenting an appealing and atmospheric aspect of the scene. From top to bottom, it captures the essence of a dreamy sunset, a grandiose cathedral, an enigmatic tree line, an alluring event tent, and an organic and radiant field.
The painting skilfully combines realism and semi-realism, with intricate details meticulously painted in the cathedral and event tent. The sky and grass exhibit a mesmerizing semi-realistic quality, while the event tent is illuminated by festoon lighting and the warm glow of the sunset. The grass beneath is vibrant and dramatic, featuring subtle signs of mark-making and variations in grass quality.
The dark and disruptive tree line adds depth and intensity to the overall composition, enhancing the vibrancy of the entire work. In terms of colour, the painting is bold, colourful, and captivating, immersing the viewer in a world of vivid hues and captivating contrasts. It exudes an elegant and ethereal aura, evoking a sense of the divine and the mysterious.
